Which one? Any advice!!
Permalink Closed

Hi all,

I am looking to restart my career after spending 6 years as a stay at home mum. I like the idea of Bookcert business in a box. After searching the internet I see that Premier training do a similar thing.

Has anybody done either course? and would they recommend them? Premier training includes payroll but is far more expensive at £699. Bookcert is £297.

Any help or advice much appreciated.

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

welcome to the site.

nobody on here is going to say anything against Bookcert as they are the one's who own this site.

That aside you are comparing apples and oranges here. Bookcert will help you to get up and running in business but it's quite a differnet offering to a full training course on bookkeeping which is what Premier are offering.

For starters, if you are new to this I would advise you to purchase Mastering Accounting Skills by Margaret Nicholson and Mastering Bookkeeping by Dr Peter Marshall. You should be able to get the two from Amazon for under £20.

These will take you through the basics of bookkeeping. If you come out the other side thinking that this is the career for you then go for the more expensive investments.

Another that you may wish to consider is the Open University introduction to bookkeeping or the AAT ABC bookkeeping course (not to be confused with the full AAT qualification).

Hope that these pointers help and save you a bob or two in the process,

kind regards,

Shaun.
