Hi gang.
so i've decided to take the AAT route and am looking at starting at intermediate level with the quals ive already gained. I'm considering using Eagle Education for the course and possibly taking exams at Kaplan Manchester. Has anyone here done this course this way? Will there be a problem using Kaplan for exams only and can anybody recommend Eagle? Oh and are the Osbourne series of books a good set as i think this is what Eagle supply.

Cheers, Ta and Thanx

Spam.

P.S soz for being a mithering sod. (it's a big ole confusing new world out there)

Hi Neil,

don't worry, we don't mind answering questions on here.

Unfortunately I can't comment on Eagle or taking exams with Kaplan but on the Osbourne books I can very highly recommend those. Espeichally Business Accounts for Book-keeping and financial accounting courses by David Cox which is one of the books that you will be issued.

About eight months ago we had an issue with something in one of the Osbourne texts and sent an email to them. Got a response back from the publishers immediately (within the hour) and from the author within a day confirming the technical query that we had. It was just one of those things that could be read two ways and the publishers hadn't appreciated the alternate understanding of it. They promised to clarify the matter in the following edition but it really was no biggy.

As far as text book publishers go I can't recommend them highly enough. Not just for their service to customers but also from the content of their books.

On the AAT starting point front as you are starting at intermediate it wouldn't be a bad idea to quickly brush up on the basics. besides the Osbourne texts I can also highly recommend the AAT Foundation revision companion for units 1-4 from BPP which in a weekend will be enough revision to set you up for the intermediate stage.

Good luck with your studies,

All the best,

Shaun

Thanks Shaun i'll look into that. I already have a couple of City & Guilds quals (bookkeeping and accounts, computerised accounts level1) but i'm interested in reading anything that will make intermediate level easier to understand. I have been told by quite a few that lots of the people jumping straight in at level 3 AAT struggle somewhat and if a weekend of reading and revising helps to ease that then its a definite from me.
EDIT:  revision companion ordered

gonna go to bed with a good book lol.

Hi,

I am currently studying AAT level 3 with Eagle, I haven't really used the tutor support as I haven't needed it - I have worked in accounts since leaving school so am familiar with a lot of it already - so can't comment on that but they have been helpful whenever I have called etc. I am doing my exams @ a Kaplan centre and have had no problems, 3 so far, so that should be fine.

Good luck with your studies I am really enjoying it!

Just out of interest Saltire, how long was it before you entered for the first module exam? and can you recommend which order to take them in?
