What Payroll Software?
Permalink Closed

I'm about to ditch my old copy of Sage Payroll for various reasons and want to start the new year afresh. Can anyone suggest software that would;

be cloud-based ideally

cope with mulitple companies - currently about 20 but looking to increase

not take a life-time to learn

produce payslips etc that can be emailed/saved in a folder shared with individual clients

do lots of other lovely things that I haven't thought of yet

not cost a fortune?

Hi Sara, Apart from the cloud based bit, my vote goes for Moneysoft:

http://www.moneysoft.co.uk/

I think it meets all your requirements, including lots of lovely things.  Took me no time at all to forget about burdensome Sage was!

About a month before we left Sage, we bought a box of payslips, since starting to use moneysoft we haven't used 1 - they're all done using inbuilt templates and most are emailed as PDF files (which you can choose to save as one file or as individual files). It also handles CIS no problem.

Thanks Nick, I have been looking at Moneysoft but wanted to check if there was anything better before I part with my cash...

My vote also goes to Moneysoft. Great program, and quick to learn.

I second (or is that third?) the vote for Moneysoft, I have used it for the last 5 years, it is cheap, does what it says on the tin, you can give feedback if you find something does not work and they update it almost immediately!! you can e-mail payslips, p45s, reports etc, it has a CIS part that works fine, i have no complaints whatsoever and i also use their accounts program to which you can post straight from payroll. you will not regret trying it I promise!!

Thanks guys

Interesting, as I started off trying Moneysoft but just wanted to check if there was anything better, but have now gone back for another play...

Had a brief look at 12Pay too, any opinions? I came to an abrupt halt when I couldn't test the ability to enter holiday pay!

Hi Sara

I have used Sage for years and this is the last year that I will be using it and am switching to 12pay. It is taking a bit of getting used to but I am starting to like it.

Regards

Mark

Hi Sara

My Vote is for 12Pay too.

Holiday accrual and HR facility is only available on Premium and Bureau editions. You would need the Bureau edition with that number of companies.

It prints/ emails payslips etc.

I know I'd need the bureau and would be happy to pay for it once I'd trialled it - but not being able to test it properly stops me from buying anything. I think it's the hidden geek in me smile

If they had a time-limited full-version trial then I would happily have another look but I couldn't see one... even if it only lasted a week!

I've changed one of my clients from Sage to 12 Pay and have had no problems with it. Tom from 12 Pay is often on here, speak to him he may be able to arrange for a time limited trial.

I use moneysoft (I get a small discount if anyone is interested) and share folders with clients using dropbox. When I produce the payslips I save them straight to the shared folders, where there are stored for both me and the client.

I use Dropbox to do the same thing with Sage at the moment, so something similar would certainly be useful for them...

Hi Sara

I'd love to have a chat with you about esPAY. I work for a payroll bureau in Brentwood called esl. We are just about to launch our new SaaS payroll. Its aimed at small businesses but we're also adding loads of management tools for book-keepers and accountants like scheduling, invoicing and white-labelling. It's completely online so might appeal to your inner geek? We charge just £4.50 per month per payroll to accountants, no matter how many employees.

Thanks Amanda - most of our payrolls are 1 or 2 people though, so that actually works out more than we charge them...

Hi Sara

Ah, this is something I'm discovering as I speak to more accountants. Most often its director's threshold payrolls. We've added a 'one-click' processing tool so you can batch these payrolls (especially since they never have any changes to enter) and run the whole lot in one go.
We're trying to come up with some bright ideas for fee bundling to make it cost effective and competitive. Any suggestions are very welcome!

Amanda

I'm happy to have a conversation with you - or do you have a demo site I can play with? Feel free to drop me an email...
