When doing the whole payroll process for a client how does this differ to doing payroll in a workplace?

Do you give the client copies of the reports each week, each month? What information does the client give to you?

Also do you actually pay the wages using the likes of autopay? Or do you just go up to that?

Depending on the client, they'll send over an email of hours, or provide timesheets etc. I produce the payslips, and give the employer those, a net pay summary, a summary of the whole payroll, and depending on the time of the month the Tax/NI to be paid.
I don't do the payments at this point. I would like to but I'm sure when I looked into it before it didn't seem viable.

As above......except

For one client I do have access to his bank account via online banking so set up the payments to his employees and to HMRC for him.

I email the finished payslips and P32 with a straightforward guide as to who needs to be paid what, as the P32 is not always easy to read if you aren't 'one of us'!

I don't print anything out, other than as a back-up for my own records and to make PYE (Payroll Year End) quicker.

I also keep 'staff files' using Sage HR and record holidays and absence via that for a couple of clients - each customer is different, but the more paperwork I take off them the easier their lives are......and the more valuable I become! biggrinbiggrin

I've got a bit baffled! Do you mean P32? (ie payment to HMRC). P35 is a year end report isn't it?  confuse
