What software do you use to do accounts and tax return
Permalink Closed

This is a question more directed to the accountants out there.

To date I have done some tax returns on my own but now someone has approached me to do their limited company accounts, personal tax return, company tax return and P11d.

I know that i will need to get some kind of software to take care of the company accounts and possible the company tax return and P11d.

What software do you use/would you recommend?

At present the firm i work for uses IRIS which i have been been using for all of my working life so comfortable using it but it is expensive (especially if using it for one client) although would definitely use it if had more limited company accounts to do which hopefully will come in time.

Just putting this thread out to find out people's thoughts.

Cheers

MarkS

IRIS is by far and away the best I have used but very expensive for a small practice.

I have recently started using Absolute Accounts. As you may have seen from another posting I made there are some teething issues with it from a presentation/ user friendly point of view but actually it is fantastic for iXBRL filing.

I'm not an Accountant but have a look at VT Final Accounts and BTC Software for tax. Both are very straightforward to use, my only real criticism of VT is the lack of a charity accounts template

For SA, Partnership and Repayment Forms IMO you can't beat 'taxcalc'.

I use VT final accounts for Ltd company final accounts, Taxcalc for both company and personal tax returns and clever accounts accountants package for online accounts. Oh and Moneysoft payroll for all the payrolls, p11ds etc.

Moneysoft's Money Manager Business edition will handle both Ltd Co & personal accounts.  The Final Accounts module will produce tax returns.  The Payroll program is very good and can be integrated into MM.  All very reasonably priced as well.

No connection, just satisfied user.

VT is excellent for accounts. On the tax return side we used to use PTP (before moving to Iris), but I think there are probably some smaller packages around.
