I think you probably need to be a bit more specific here.

Hi Phil,

it's just the daily Spam. As James noted yesterday though the headings are at least becoming a bit more relevant to this site.

Yeah, spotted after I posted!

Does this kind of spamming actually ever work?

I don't know. I did like the magnetic bracelets though.

I really can't see any way that it can as none of us on here would ever access the links.

Hi expert!! I am new to this forum and sort of new to book keeping too ( studied for four years in my contry but that was 15 years ego, and only work few month as book keeper than never since)
Just finishe my first course (computerised and manual level 1)as I am thinking to make big change in my carrier and become a book keeper in england.

My boyfriend has a limited company, so my question is with my qualification can i start do the book for him??? Or does he need a chartered accountant?

Hi Agnes,

welcome to the forum.

you should really have started a new thread for this one, however I'm quite happy to answer it here.

You don't mention which supervisory body you are with so I will assume that it's ICB level 1 that you are referring to.

Even though it's your boyfreind, if you do this on a commercial basis then the same ICB restrictions as to the services that you can offer, and not working without a practice certificate would apply (sure that James will correct me in the morning on that one).

However, assuming that this is just getting the books organised for your boyfreind on a non commercial basis then I can see no reason why you can't help him out. That you studied in another country is not really material as basic level bookkeeping is pretty universal where taxation and accountancy tends to be more geared towards specific countries.

I'm reading into your situation that doing the level one was pretty much a revision course for the gap since the four years that you studied this so I'm assuming that you would be in a better position than many who have only studied the level 1 and have no history in the subject.

That you are still early in your studies combined with this being a limited company I think however that as far as preparing the books goes you should really have an accountant involved. This will also prove useful to yourself as you have a bargaining chip to gain experience as a bookkeeper by doing the books for your boyfreind under the supervison of a qualified accountant. As such you could actually consider the AAT route if that appealed to you.

On the expert front, don't read too much into it. Just means that I've posted more than anyone else. Doesn't mean that I know more.

Hope to talk soon,

kind regards,

Shaun.
