Just a line or two to say - Hi, I'm new here. I'm looking to start up as a self employed bookkeeper in the near future and it is really rather scarey
I've worked in accounts for rather to many years, passed AAT Technician in 2001, I know I have the experiance and qualifictions to do this . . . . . . but my self esteem is not so good . . . so I'm giving myself lots of pep talks and will be scouring this forum for tips on what to do [and what not to do!]
welcome to the forum and good luck with your new venture.
There have been plenty of threads on here on how to approach networking events, what software to buy, discussions on insurance providers etc. As well as loads of technical advice.
Unfortunately, as you will find, threads often start off on one subject and then become a completely different one meaning that the perfect answer is often well hidden.
Rather than the site search facility sometimes it is best to use google and restrict the answers to just bookkeepers forum.
If you have any specifics myself or one of the others on here are more than happy to answer any questions.
And don't worry too much. Invariably you find things a lot easier going than you imagine that they will be. Just keep telling yourself, you've got the qualifications and experience and there's a good many making a living out of this that haven't got either.
Now go for it. We're all behind you.
All the best,
Shaun.

I've just had a similar thread about negativity - mainly because of self esteem issues. I think we should all get in a room and listen to the Smiths.

If your going to be listening to the Smiths I'll be at the door of the room making sure that none of you take any sharp objects in with you!!!!
Then again, I listen to Sisters of Mercy so I can't exactly complain too much about the Smiths music being depressing.

All my Smiths albums are in the attic, but thanks to the likes of Youtube and Spotify, I have spent many happy evenings in the last year or so working and listening to the glory of Morrissey and Marr. Makes you appreciate just how good they were. My opinion obviously!
NB you can't call songs like Vicar in a Tutu and Some Girls are Bigger than Others depressing!
