question about ICB Level I exam - anyone tried please let me know
Permalink Closed

biggrinHello and good evening there:

I just did the Lee Crescent past paper for Level I (the download one from the ICB shop), and noticed it says in the front that "the booklet need to be completed and posted it off no later than a deadline date indicated in a box" - I can see the box but indicates blankconfuse. Now I kind of know the Level I exam can be taken online at home...or maybe this is not the case???I am studying on my own completly (yes, this is truehmm), and just trying to figure out the way how exactly I can undertake the exams..

Please tell me. thank you

Anna x

Have you done a mock exam online yet? I saw on another thread you got 91 in a mock exam so that seems to indicate you have.

The "real thing" for Manual Level I is done online at home. Manual Level II is done at a centre (the same place where the driving theory tests are carried out). Manual Level III is also done at a centre.

Lee Crescent is just a mock past paper and should have some model answers, I also downloaded this in the beginning, if you click on examinations in the ICB shop you can book your on-line exam for level I there

Good Luck!!

Lisa

Thank you - just to confirm: do you mean I could take the exam online at home and submit it online, and do not need to print off the exam paper booklet, complete and post it off? I do not have a printer at home, and this is what I worry about. By the way, if I complete and submit it all online at home, does this mean I will get my result straight away?

thank you for being paitient to my silly questions smile

Anna xx

Yes I did a mock test, but not online, I downloaded it . Just wonder what the 'real thing' is like, I don't have a printer at home. I will take exam soon and just preparing myself at the moment...

If you go on past papers online there is a mock on-line exam for Ben Crawford this is set out as the proper on-line exam would be, you will get your result straight away and it will give you the correct answers and for the price of £10.00 it's worth it to see if you are ready for the actual exam, I don't think you will get the answers straight away on the actual exam though, maybe someone else will be able to clarify this for you. You will get 2 hours to complete the exam, give the mock ago and let me know how you get on. And yes the proper exam is all submitted on-line so no printer required smile.

All the best.

I couldn't understand how you managed to get a mark for your mock when you didn't have a course provider. Doesn't matter.

You don't need a printer for the real exam. You are sent a link. When you start this exam there is a timer at the top of your web browser telling you either how much time is left or how much time you've taken. I can't remember which. If you got 91 on the paper test I don't think the timer will matter as you will likely finish in plenty of time. So no printer is needed. I think you receive your mark as soon as you finish the exam. If there are any mistakes you will see them in the report on the ICB website.

Thank you both for your advice.

Lisa - I think I will give a go for the online mock test as you suggested.

Peasie - I am learning from home on my own, but I do have some text books which I borrowed from friends and library, and I have some ACCA books. There is a really cool website 'opentuition.com' I find really useful, have a look if you didn't know, and it will be beneficial to you too :)

I don't have the discipline to study on my own so went with Ideal Schools.

Dear Peasie and Lisa,

I just passed my Level I exam online - I got 97%. I am rather pleased as I studied on my own at home. I will be doing the Level II manual soon :)

- And I found myself a new job which relates to accountancy (in Credit Control), and it starts tomorrow!

Achieved all these in 2 months, I think I am a bit mad here...

Thank you both for the encouragement and advice in the past:) xxx
