Its my first post here and I hope that anyone from you guys can give me some advice. Ive noticed that some ACCA students did ask the same question I am intending to ask but as my situation is really different I hope that I will get some answers here.
I just recently moved to UK and hence looking for work in field Ive built my career. I know that it takes some time to find good job but current situation in market here looks more than miserable. Do I really need to undertake any unqualified work when I have BSc. Accounting and 18 years of Management Accounting experience in my pocket?
Yes I dont have ACCA on my CV but does it mean that I am not qualified even for Accountant Assistant position? Ive worked in Accounting for retail, constructions and education. Managed to master number of financial applications: Oracle, Quick Books, SAP, Infinity, Scala, Wang, Chrystal Mind and basics of Sage 50 not mentioning proficiency in Excel.
My main question is can I start my own bookkeeping practice (though I would need to studies in one or other way more about VAT and TAXs here in UK )?
Could anyone advice me where and how I should start ?
Thank you all indeed
In love with Accountancy

Theres nothing stopping you starting your own bookkeeping business, but if you haven't covered UK accounting and tax law I'd suggest you look at studying one of the bookkeeping or accounting exams here e.g. IAB, ICB or AAT. It may also be worth looking at the ATT which is purely tax. This should get you up to speed with VAT, PAYE and Tax.
