The worst thing about bookkeeping forums is you read all these problems people are having and you get it into your head you will get ALL the problems EVERONE has EVER encountered while bookkeeping.

That's the nature of a forum - people only really come when they have a problem. Quite a few posts are the first time that someone has posted and start with "so glad I found this forum - I've got this problem..."
Two quick observations:
1. It's reassuring that if you encounter a problem, you are not the only one who has encountered it 2. There is somewhere you can 'ask a silly question' - and no, there's no silly questions - as we are all aware, the answer's easy when you know the answer!
And there are many helpful people on here who have 'been there before' and are willing to give an answer.

Completely agree with you, Nick. I wouldn't like to meet the bookkeeper who thinks they know everything.
I know I learn something new everyday.

Responses are intended as outline only. Formal advice should be sort from your Institutes Technical Department or a suitably qualified Accountant.

I've met him - but he isn't a bookkeeper. I don't know what he does for a living these days as he's had that many different jobs. Maybe he is a bookkeeper these days. But he does know everything about everything.

I don't want to admit but actually this is how I started here, I am a big fan of the forum now - but I don't only come here when myself have a problem, I also read others' problems to see if I can help, unfortunately when you just started learning there is very limited information you could give, but the good part is that I get the precious chances to learn from other people's mistakes/experience, which is better than I make mistakes myself. I think lots people here feel the same

PS Dilbert is brilliant, love it, I would like to meet Scott Adams if possible, I don't mind buy him drinks

My only concern about the avatar I use is the message - like a lot of people on here, I work for myself, so if I do nothing today, I DON'T get paid!
To go back to Peasie's OP, despite all the experience we may have, I think we ALL still encounter situations on a daily/weekly basis that are challenging, the key is knowing how to deal with them. Having this forum is brilliant, we can share ideas, ask questions, and work together to help each other.
As a freelancer, I think you come across more you don't understand because you deal with different sorts of businesses all with their own little "quirks"! (is that a word?!) but just think how much we'll know at the end of it!
I do agree with Peasie in the sense that before i even started my course i doubted myself i could do it, because i read everyones problem, not only did i read them all i didn't understand them as i hadn't even started. Although on the other hand it is very helpful for tips and advice.
