I'm just looking at the overview of accounting qualifications on the BKN website (http://www.book-keepers.net/qualifications). Under accounting technician qualifications the SIAT (AIA) is listed. I've tried clicking on the link which goes to www.siatglobal.com but the website doesn't appear to be live.
Inarush is correct, the SIAT was the technician level qualification of the AIA. At one time I was considering taking the exams. It appears as though the AIA is no longer offering it as a standalone qualification. Not sure what happens to those who qualified under the regime.
If you're looking at technician level qualifications I'd look at either the AAT or CAT.

I actually started the SIAT a few years back. My husbands accountant was an AIA who suggested I look at the SIAT as a way into bookkeeping. Signed up with the SIAT as a student but quickly found my study options limited with only one course provider offering any SIAT materials. Quickly fell out with the tutor provided to me so I switched to the AAT. Looks like I made the right choice now its no longer being offered.
