I have asked to undertake some work for a friends mother in the UK, but they live a long way away and the likelyhood is that I will never meet them.
I know there are online tools that can be used to validate individuals but do not normally need to use them.
Has anybody got any views or companies that would be good to use.
Also as the site admin team are going to release some new resources for Money Laundering - if they have any contacts then I think they would be useful for us all.

We use AMLCC, they have an electronic verification process that's about £4 per client, but it costs £200 ish to sign up in the first place, but you do get a nice manual and training.
It is my understanding that even for people you're never going to meet, the normal paperwork based ID is ok, as long as they're not hugely high risk. In the past I have had people take their driving licence, utilty bills etc to their bank manager, get him to copy and authenticate them and then send onto me.

You can get ID verification done at a bank or solicitor. The client takes their ID into the bank/solicitor and gets an official document stamped. You can use this document.
Your due dilligence would result in a higher risk as you have never met them.
If you are with the ICB you can call or email to get more details, the ICB due dilligence pack checklist should help you obtain a risk for this situation.
Hi I use AML Search for my identity checks and ask client to send me scanned copy of passport or driving licence. There is no minimum fee or joining fee and it costs £5 plus VAT per check, they check all the registers and supply you with a full report for your records. Takes a day or two to set up in the first place but its very quick to get the responses once your account is activated.
