fairly urgent sage bank recon issue
Permalink Closed

Hi everybody,

I just reconciled february in sage (instant v15), all good and balancing. Done a backup but did not close the program, had my tea and went back to do march recon. Press recon fill in details and it comes up with a different last reconciled balance (well it is out by about £150 comparing to the reconciled balance I just got half an hour ago..) Ok I check history, last reconciliation end of february with the balance it should be. Loaded backup and still the same.

Any ideas why february ending balance(last reconciled) not matching with march opening (last reconciled) balance?

No transactions between the two recon (apart from some mashed potatoes) and nobody else is using it (especially not in the last half an hour...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I should be finishing march recon to be able to do year end tomorrow lunch time...

Sound odd, maybe some corruption of data. You could try running Check Data and see if there are any errors. When did you previously do a back up, could you restore from there and do Feb recon again?

Hi Attila

If check data comes with no repair required status

Check if January balance correct in the rec. (to eliminate scenario that the rogue bank posting is from before Feb 2011)?

Secondly, does the bank account balance at end of Feb 2011 (in the Bank module) equal to the bank balance in the nominal ledger account (in the company Module)?

Ok my computer is overheating from long day and at this time of night, though radio is playing good music with very few ads in between.

oooo what becomes of a broken Sage ache,...............................

Thanks for the replies. I went back to the previous backup, done february again, got to the same balance, gone to march recon and everything is fine now. It was just very weird, don't understand what happened in that half an hour in the first time. The only thing I can think of is my cat pressed something whilst I was eating dinner, he likes playing with computers...but than what was wrong with the first backup? Anyway now all good and back on track.

And yes doing backups every time I run sage and also before and after any bigger tasks (like bank recon)- sometimes 4 a day I just don't trust computers.

Mine also loves getting into large envelopes from clients and pulling out tescos receipts from the bottom :)
