Posting Final Dividend
Permalink Closed

Guys/Ladies,

Probably a daft question (as usual), but we issued a couple of Interim Dividends through the year and posted these to a Dividends code under Equities/Balance Sheet to keep P&L looking correct for pre-tax profits.

We are now passed year end and due to exchange variances the final profits figure looks to be coming out even higher than expected and Directors/Shareholders wish to issue a final dividend from that year.

My question is how best to record this and then post all dividends to P&L?

If this final dividend is issued two months after year end, do we just post this final dividend to same Equities/Balance Sheet nominal at the date paid and then how would I get this back into P&L for the previous year (for which the dividend is being paid)?

Thanks

Ridesy

It's no longer anything to do with the previous year, as it's declared after the year end.

I would suggest posting as you have done - keep it away from the P&L.

Sorry I didn't pick this up when you posted it, hope it's still relevant :)
