Just phoned Sage for a price to increase the number of companies i can have on my payroll.  Because I have accounts aswell I have to upgrade both from 10 to 25 companies.  £194.00 for now until November and then renew for £1170.00 - for f-f-f-f flips sake! furious I don't think so!   12 Pay here I come! biggrin

Have you tried Moneysoft for payroll (and CIS). £140 I think I paid for it for up to 100 companies. And I use Quickbooks which is multi-company on 1 license.

Have you tried Moneysoft Payroll Manager if you are doing payroll for other companies. I use it for 9 of my clients and pay about £150 per year, I think it is slightly higher for over 10 but the programme is very good. I have used Sage payroll but prefer Moneysoft.

Hi sue
This is exactly the reason I changed my payroll to 12pay
When I spoke to sage about it they couldn't be bothered to discuss it. It took a while to get used to 12pay as I had used sage for years but now I have no problems don't worry about making the change.
Good luck

Regards
Mark

Add on Tax, Accounts Prep - and then find Partnership Tax is yet another seperate programme - and you're up over £2K per annum !! I really do need to find something else as well............Sage are reaching the point where they are seriously pricing themselves out of the market. They need to get real !! I know they are the market leaders and I know they need to make a profit and I know they provide a fantastic support service - but all the same............

Hi Sue,

mines another vote for Moneysoft. but as I was chatting with Bill about the other day, it's more the feel of the software than any major advantage over 12pay. (see this thread : http://www.book-keepers.org.uk/t43689388/convince-me-that-i-dont-need-sage/ and my post from July 4th 01:42),

Download the free trials of both of them and see which feels right for you. Note that Moneysoft includes CIS whereas with 12pay it's an additional add on. However, the eventual prices come out pretty similar and it really is a case of six of one, half a doxen of the other as boh are excellent packages.

Agree with the general sentiment over Sage. Again, refer to the above thread where the price of Sage got mentioned a lot. But note that not everyone was anti sage even at their prices. And, after going through the excercise of deciding on my business software I think that I finally saw the real issue in that multi client Sage products are not being priced for our market but rather they are pricing themselves against Iris who they regard as their real competition.

My Software setup is now VT Accounts (including VT Transaction+) and Moneysoft. I've still got two old versions of Sage line 50 (which I'm hoping not to have to use) and I keep playing with QB quickstart with the intention of buying QB Pro if a client needs their books done in QB. I think that lot should cover all of mine and my clients software needs.

Anyway, here's a list of the features of 12pay and Moneysoft for you to compare and contrast.

TTFN,

Shaun.

Another vote for Moneysoft payroll - you really will wonder why you stuck with Sage for so long!

I don't get Sage at all.

Some posters are being offered £125 to move from 25 - 50 clients but my experience was the same as yours Sue. I love to know the logic behind such wild variances - something isn't right somewhere.

@Mark - know what you mean. When I said I would be looking elsewhere they said OK then!!

@ Tony - I cant understand their pricing either - but am afraid it's bye bye Sage! I like Sage, think it's lovely to use and look at - but that's not enough for the prices they want.

Bye Bye Sage - bin nice knowing ya!!
