I am looking to set up as a book-keeper and would like to know if anybody would be interested in meeting me to help me fill in some gaps in my knowledge and help me with setting up the admin side of things.
I am in the North of England and am prepared to travel (within reason!) to meet with somebody who can show me how they run their business. I am prepared to pay for their time (subject to negotiation!!) to the right person who I feel I could benefit from their experience.
I have run a successful business outside of accountancy for most of my life before recently selling it but have gained much experience of accounting, day to day book-keping and final accounts preparation using sage.
I have support from my father in law who is a retired accountant and has prepared accounts for private clients but only on a less informal basis and without software, so I would like to fill in some of the gaps from what he has taught me.
Please post a reply if anyone is interested. Thanks.
However, you don't mention if you are a member of any of the bookkeeping professional bodies. If you are, you'll be covered for Money Laundering Regulations. If you are not, you will need to register with the HMRC and to pass their "fit and proper person" test before you can set up as a bookkeeper.
If you need someone else, when I get back to the UK (I'm overseas until the end of the July) you are welcome to contact me. I supposed to be on holiday at the moment, but its too hot to sleep at the moment!
I have clients that never set foot in the UK, so location is not important anymore as long as you can use and have access to the right type of technology.
