What should i do?

Im in a bit of a quandry at the moment... As some of you know i took B190 and passed with flying colours, then I went on to complete B291 (financial accounting) which unfortunatley I have now failed as i didn't do much revising for the exam (personal issues). Well, my query to you all is; I have been given the chace to retake the exam in November, which i thought would be free, but no, you have to pay 94 notes! Now do i go ahead and pay it and study harder this time round in the hope of passing (but if i fail again, no more chances) and just have b291 on the CV, as i have no intentions on doing b292 Management accounting, i would rather spend money on the AAT. OR do i use the £94 to put towards the AAT and just forget about b291? I'm really torn about this, as b291 is more or less usless on its own, yet i dont want to 'throw away' the £700 i spent studing it, and yet again i would rather put the £94 to better use getting me the AAT and hopefully a full time job somewhere! Open to the floor...

Hi Gary,

Understand completely where you are coming from on this.

AAT will get you further than B291 but I think that this is one of those cases where you should be thinking about and rather than or.

Unlike B190 which we've chatted about previously I think having B291 really does justify MIAB status so maybe look at the investment in the exam from that perspective... After saying that though. You did the course even though you didn't pass the exam so in itself that supports the level of knowledge that I would say was necessary for MIAB.

Considering the money already invested in B291 I personally would follow it through to completion.

On the seperate note of B292 you're right. everything covered by B292 (costing, budgeting, etc) is covered in AAT level III so if your going down the AAT route it makes B292 pretty supurfluous to requirements.

Wish you all the best in making this difficult decision.

Good luck,

Shaun.

Hello,

Do the AAT not give any exemptions from the B190 and B291? I know they exempt you from the Level 2 with the B190.

Therefore it might be cheaper and quicker to retake the B291 and get exemptions into AAT (if they do this), then continue to AAT Level 4.

Personally I think if you completed AAT the fact you did B190 without the B291 wont really matter, the AAT will be the important thing people will look at.

Best of luck!
