Hi,

I am new in this forum.I got degree in BSc Engineering but got reduntant due to economic crisis. As I got good mathmatics background I am going to start AAT course this september.I was doing OCR accredited Bookkeeping Course but couldn't manage to finish as the people who were offering the course  have stopped the course due to funding.I was very comfortable doing double entry, petty cashbook, cashbook reconciliation etc.My question is whether it will be possible for me to open own bussiness just after finishing my AAT?Also  to add that as I got my baby with me, I am more interested to open a bussiness?

My husband got engineering background as well and he is also interested to do the bussines.

Can anyone advice?

Hello!

Sorry to hear about your redundancy.  I have started a bookkeeping business on the back of the AAT Level 2, but I also have 10 years plus experience to add to it.  I'm now studying level 3.

I thought that it would be very simple and flexible as I too have 2 small children (6+3) but it hasn't turned out that way.  As naive as it sounds, I wasn't prepared for working practically every evening as well as 3 days each week at my clients offices.

Having said that, it really is worthwhile doing and if I've been stuck with anything the people on here are always happy to help.

Good Luck!

Kirsty

Hello,

I can't comment on that Nilakash, only you will know that.

My advice would be to work out how many hours you want/need to work and then decide how many clients you need.

Good Luck

Kirsty
