I need some help please in VAT 100 form. When we complete the VAT return I am confused about the VAT on Sales return and purchases return. Where do we adjust VAT of these items.

Thanks

You simply take sales returns from your total sales figure and enter this in box 1. Similarly for purchases returns.

Have a look at: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/managing/returns-accounts/completing-returns.htm

Alternatively, I'm sure I know a good bookkeeper

Hi Tim,

luckily so as I think that you are offering to help Ahmad out with work experience in this thread

http://www.book-keepers.org.uk/t43951607/need-some-work-experience/

Actually, think that could be a mutually beneficial arrangement if Ahmad brings you his existing clients in exchange for him servicing them under your tutoring.

(Ahmad if your reading this my post is meant in a good way. Appreciate that it can be read in two different ways but I don't know how else to phrase the answer).

Yes, Shaun.   Feeling isolated is something i have experienced and I responded to repeated posts from my neck of the woods.  I can see that Ahmad is dying to get started and it would be a shame to waste that for lack of direction.  In particular, I didn't answer the previous posts because I wouldnt want to promise work experience only to disappoint when I have just taken on my other half last week.  Otherwise, my nature is to share with beginners but I wanted to know the experience and advertising aspect because I couldn't promise to sit him down and say "right lets get the sales day book in" and spend time on jobs i knew off by heart.

I assure everyone reading this of my best intent despite my crass offer.  It's probably my good looks but I have been guided by accountants throughout my career and without such exchange I don't think the current tax legislation would function at all.

best regards,
 Tim
