I was just wondering what format the AAT Professional Competence Test took?
I know it's on your own computer but can find no indication as to whether it's a timed test, if not, how long do I need to allocate to take it?
Has anyone here sat it and if so, how did you find it?
Hope to talk later,
kind regards,
Shaun.

Just received my AAT application pack and it details the PCT in there.
The AAT PCT is timed. Lasts 2 hours and covers knowledge of the following modules :
Unit 1 - Recording Income and Receipts (RIAR)
Unit 2 - Making and Recording Payments (MARP)
Unit 3 - Preparing Ledger Balances and an Initial Trial Balance (PLB)
Unit 4 - Supplying Information for Management Control (SIMC)
Unit 21 - Working with Computers (WWC)
Unit 22 - Contribute to the Maintenance of a Healthy, Safe and Productive Working Environment (HSPE)
Unit 23 - Achieving Personal Effectiveness (APE2)
... Seems a bit weird to patch the test at that level. I would have thought that they would have set it at level 4 but then again, thinking back to the ICB's arguement, the issue that they have is that people at advanced level studies sometimes forget the nuts and bolts so that would probably explain why the test is set at fundamentals level.
Anyway, going a bit off Peist. This is just intended as information for any ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA studiers who are thinking of grabbing AAT as a stepping stone in order to give you a bit of a heads up as to what level the test is set at.
HTH,
Shaun.

I took the AAT PCT test today and passed! I applied via the CIMA part qualified route. The test consisted of 30 basic double entry book keeping questions and 10 basic ethics questions. 2 hours allowed for the test, managed to complete it in 50 minutes.
