New Client looking for Accountant
Permalink Closed

Went to see a new client last week small Ltd company with 3 directors.  Last year (2009-10) was their first year roughly 60 transactions a month done on excel income and expenditure split into different expenses.  They hired an accountant who quoted them £540 unfortunately due to family circumstances this accountant ceased his practice just before their year end and they found at the last minute a local one who charged them £1500 and gave them no advice.  Hence they are looking for someone who, hopefully charges less and will give them advice on the way forward.  This year (2010-11) they have doubled up to about 120 transactions a month.  Their year end is October which, as they do training based on academic year they would like to change to end August.

From next year 2011-12, in addition to the training they already do they have won a grant from the lottery worth £60,000 to run a project.  They are not VAT registered and this £60,000 will not be included in turnover as it is not income from business activities and they do not anticipate their turnover will reach VAT threshold but would like to discuss this.  They are not a charity nor a CIC or social enterprise.

I'll be doing the book-keeping from their new year (2011-12) the current finance person (who is a director) and will still be involved in the business is going on maternity in October and I'll take over then.

The purpose of this post is to ascertain, based on the above information a fair accountancy fee and if anyone in/near West Yorkshire would be interested in talking about the job.

Hi Sheila,

I may be interested. I'm not that far away (Doncaster). If you could email me your phone number, I can give you a call tomorrow (late morning) to discuss.
