Hi,
My name is Nikki and, like many others on here, I'm an AAT student currently studying my level 3 via distance learning.
I've dabbled in accounting jobs over the past few years in Canada and when we moved back I decided to do an official qualification that backs my experience. At present I'm not working, I have 2 kids and I don't fancy being tied down to a 9-5 right now. Eventually I want to start out on my own, but I'm taking it all one day at a time!
Loving reading all the posts by people at different levels of study and points in their career. I hope to become a regular on here. I'm based in Shildon in County Durham but originally I'm from Croydon in South London!

I am fairly new to the forum too but only just starting to get into posting. I was a bookkeeper for 15 years, self taught on the job, backed & supported by the company accountant. Due to the current employment climate I, too, am studying for AAT to widen my prospects, but due to a crisis of confidence have started at Level 2. I am also originally from Wallington so its a small world.
Thanks for the kind welcomes! I'm thoroughly enjoying reading the posts on here... The problems that people seem to be coming up seem to be difficult at first but mostly seem to just be issues with translating the problem into an equation they can deal with (something that I come across on my course) and IMO this is part of the bookkeeping fun... Keeping your mind active and dealing with difficult problems everyday.
Shaun, we didn't want to come back... We loved it in Canada and one day we want to go back... But we'll see.
Sammy, my brother went to Wallington boys so I know the area quite well! It is a small world.

I got into Wallington Girls but I didn't want to travel (we lived near Redhill in Surrey) so I went to a mixed comprehensive instead. I'm sure I would have done better at Wally girls, but I got 3 A-Levels so I can't complain!

One of my best friends lives in Redhill and also one of my cousins - I'm not sure what school they went to though. I have to say I didn't do all that well at Wally Girls. Got ok GCSEs but completely flaked on my A-levels - too many parties.
Also married someone just down the road in Sutton and spent a few years there whilst working in the city.

Ahh I lived in Sutton before moving to Kent due to the house prices. All my family and friends still live that way. Still know it really well as we seem to spend most weekends up there still.
I only ever really went to sutton to shop or drink a lot (a good friend from school lived in Carshalton Beeches). Though I spent most of my drunken nights in croydon... Those were the days when I didn't have to think about children, careers and the future! If only life were that simple.

Lived in Banstead, went to Carshalton College, married two people from Cheam (at different times!! All legal like), lost my memory more than once on a Friday night in Croydon, and until moving to Cornwall spent most of my working life in Burgh Heath ( a few stints in Sutton and Croydon).
Funny I spent a drunken night in Croydon on Saturday, celebrating a friends birthday. It really is a small world as I know all these places like the back of my hand.
