Hi,

My client rents a room to carry out her beauty treatments can I deduct the rent as an allowable expense?

Thank you.

Hi Vicki,

Yes presumably rent is incurred wholly exclusively and necessarily for the purposes of running the business.

What work are you doing for your client?

Hi

Thank you. I knew you could but just wanted to double check it's, been a couple of years since I passed my AAT and I have only just started bookkeeping in the last couple of months. Before that I was working in an accounts office and didn't have hardly any involvement in the tax side of things even though it was corporation tax and not personal. I looked on HMRC too but felt I just needed to hear it from somebody else practising, silly I know but i'm one of these people that double checks everything! I am in the process of doing her self assesment for her self employment.

Thanks

Vicki

Sometimes when we work for ourselves, it's always useful to double check things :)

Yes. This would be a fixed expense.
