Petty Cash Difference

I'm helping my sister with a set of books for a company that keeps their petty cash account at £100. If it is a few pounds off and we can't find the difference, how do we adjust it back to £100?

My answer would be to look for it again, the difference is always lurking in there somewhere!

I agree, the difference is always there. Its quite common for me not to be able to find a difference in the evening, so if I leave it and go back to it the next morning I always find it within about 5 minutes!

Yippee managed to find the difference! Followed your advice Stuart, left it for half an hour and then it jumped out at me.

Still not that confident with bookkeeping but I love the buzz when you get something to balance.smile

Thanks for all the replies.
