Hello All,

Just thought I would mention the ICB has posted photos of the last conference held in the UK on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.244983802204236.52613.199549230081027

You can read more about this years event here: http://www.bookkeeperssummit.com/

Topics on the agenda include setting up and advertising your practice which might be of interest to some of you, along with the usual updates in the bookkeeping.

Also there will be a members panel, talk to eachother and the members who are part of the ICB Council. Discuss ideas on what you want to see from the ICB, the bookkeeping industry and other industries related to it (banks/accountants etc).

Other topics include:

VAT Presnetations
Being an Ethical Bookkeeper
Secrets of home working
Presentations from HMRC, DWP
Talk from Anne Marie Morris MP on local and micro/small businesses
and more...

Plus a chance to meet and network with other bookkeepers

Hello, anyone on here coming to the summit?

A few quotes from the attendees of the last conference:

"I found the last conference amazing." Shirley

"I attended the 2009 Conference and can honestly say it was the best gift I had given myself in my 20+ year bookkeeping career. It inspired me personally and professionally and I am now taking on ever more challenging and interesting roles." DebbieH

"Everyone is very friendly at Conference. There is no clique between grades of membership, simply warm supporting smiles and a genuine interest in anything that you care to chat about, professional or social. You will certainly make a couple of contacts that stick with very little effort, and leave with a buzz and sense of belonging that lasts several weeks." PeteL

"I was at the 2009 conference and loved every bit of it. You can meet new people and get a great in-sight into the world of bookkeeping. You can pick up ideas and get good advice from the members. I couldn't wait for the tickets to go on sale this time. I booked up for both days." Shirl50

"I'm a full member of the ICB and went to the conference in 2009. I really enjoyed it although it did cost me a fortune (but I did splurge on my hotel, travelled 1st class and went to both the dinner and the HoP breakfast !!). I met some really lovely people and learned loads of interesting stuff." Flossie

"The 2009 conference was very good when I was a student Jacquie and Leslie were very helpful." Andrew

Getting a few questions about the summit, it is for ALL bookkeepers, not just ICB members.

Meet other bookkeepers, get industry updates, tell the industry what you want from it.

Don't forget the ICB is quite active in attending parliament discussions about SMEs, so not only do you get a chance to discuss your opinions, but also you might want to ask your clients who are SMEs how they feel the accountancy industry or government in general could support them more.

The speakers include Ann Marie Morris MP who will be talking about small businesses and the economic recovery.

Hi James

I'm not an ICB member but the summit looks really good. If it wasn't for my holiday to France would love to have attended.

Will hopefully make it next year if you run it again.

A bit to far for me James. Maybe if there's ever one in the middle of the country.

Stuart, shame, but France sounds nice :) I am sure there will be another one next year.

Kris, I don't think the main summit will be outside London as it is an international event, also MPs, representatives from other organisations and software companies are mostly London based.

However, the ICB does have meetings all around the country for you to get your views and opinions across, or there is the forum. Alternatively just call the ICB for a chat.

Have a good weekend all!
