I have just purchased Final Accounts and I notice the preset WDA rates are incorrect. Surely these should be up to date. Or am I just supposed to enter the correct ones.
Thanks in anticipation for help
Valerie

They are intended to be altered as the Chancellor often changes the rates in the Budget and you don't pay Moneysoft an annual fee. Have a look at pg 68 of the manual. I normally use an existing file to create a new client so don't come across this often. It works fine even though it is not primarily tax software. With small clients I've found that 100% AIA can give them a nasty tax surprise when there's no allowance left next year, so I warn them it is a 'one-off'.
There's a new version coming out in a few months and if their other software is anything to go by then it'll be a winner. I noticed Money Manager 7 has been approved for VAT filing but I don't think it is for sale yet.
I've inputted them now and my figures looking closer to what I would expect. Having only just been dragged out of the stone age and converted to computerised bookkeeping my one negative of software is the concerns I feel over the ease of producing accounts at the touch of a button.
Without the groundwork of creating them on paper I somehow wish to analyze them to death.
However, I have been using Money manager and getting on really well with it so keen to see the new version
Best wishes
Valerie

Know what you mean Valerie. Our turnover rose 15% in the year we started using Money Manager, and I was able to finish off the smaller jobs without even resorting to the typewriter! Lol - such a revelation. I still remember being awed by a P&L evolving as I progressed through the months bookkeeping - even better in the second year and you have the previous year comparison. I suppose it's too much to hope that the new version will awe me quite so much nowadays.
You may find it useful to copy the final months entries to the Standard Entry Screen when creating a new file for next year.

We have run MM for years right from the early days of Money Manager updating every time a newer version came out and know the program inside out and it has been very good.
However when we got a new PC, MM2000 would not run on it. After contacting Moneysoft we were told it would not run on the new PC as it had 64bit Windows 7 (which all new PCs come with now).
Then they bought out the new MM7 which would run on 32bit & 64bit PCs so we upgraded and was able to run on both the new office desktop (64bit) and my personal laptop (32bit) all looked good.
Fraid not.... MM7 is a nightmare so much so we are now looking around for an alturnative software program after many many happy years running MM. There are so many bugs that they are constanly bringing out upgrade versions but still have many problems. For a start there is no longer a 'Save As' option and trying to reset the Financial year details just freezes the PCs so we have to keep taking the battery out of the laptop in order to get it working again. When you load in and older version file it upgrades it to MM7 which is fine but it eraises the older version file. Muck it up and you have lost everything. I can go on but think it is unfair to slam a company/program that has give us great product over the years. We just cannot get to grips with MM7 Sorry
Thanks for the warning, Martin. I'd had a couple of plays with MM7 and all I'd concluded was that the help file seemed much condensed. Many on here will recommend VT Transaction and the Accounts module if you are in the trade.
Like yourselves, we have had great experiences with the company and I'd not want to slam them either. This is sad news indeed.
Elsewhere on here, Shaun enlightened me to the mysteries of 32bit problems of which I'd been blissfully unaware and Moneysoft did say that MM7 wasn't ready for their Final Accounts yet, so we couldn't go ahead, despite eagerly looking forward to it.
I'll have another look when F.A. comes out next year, but will tread carefully now.
Martin. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with MM7.
If I can just address a couple of your issues:
- The 'Save As' feature has been renamed/replaced with the 'File-Utilities-Backup' feature within the program. This allows you to save a backup copy of your data somewhere else (memory stick, external drive etc) , whilst still working on your original copy of the data. (edit post: you can choose, if you wish, to add the backup date to the backup file name. Click Tools-Program setup-General' and put a tick in the 'Add date to backup data files' box.)
-When you first install MM7 it offers to make a copy of your existing data files, and puts them into a seperate directory. You then work on these new copies. The original (old) copies remain untouched in their original locations.
Hopefully this will help somewhat. Please feel free to call and discuss these and other issues with us (08456 444 555) or email info@moneysoft.co.uk if you prefer. We will gladly receive your feedback.
