Would you pay for this new service?
Permalink Closed

Hi!

I am considering the launch of a new service that I think would be beneficial for independent accountants and accountancy firms, as a way of looking professional and gaining credibility. Your feedback as experts is much appreciated: would you be interested if I create it?

"What do I get?"

You get a fully customized stock photo focused on the your name, website name, or logo. You can put it in your website and marketing materials to elevate your image. Here is an example:

Image

You can select (through an easy web app) the background wall, the business models passing by and type of plaque in the wall that most align with your vibe. Then either type what you want written on the wall, or upload your logo, and you will receive a super high quality unique 'stock' photo exactly as you configured it, featuring the core of your brand.

"Why would I want that?"

Business stock photos are Big business. They are widely used to project a professional, established business image. However, most are generic, boring and you see the same in different companies. This would be a TAYLOR MADE and UNIQUE photo.

Benefits:

-Look professional and raise your credibility
-Create the right first impression
-Make your accountancy/firm name more memorable

So again the question is:

If I created this service, is it something you would be interested in paying for? If so, how much?

If not, why?

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi,

just to confirm, you are actually selling a doctored photograph for marketing rather than anything real.

To me that's just a lie that's being sold but is that any worse than people who use stock photo's on their websites? I think not.

Personally not something that I would go for at all and it also seems against the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) guidance on advertising (it being a lie) so not something that one would be able to use in publicity material either making it simply something to pander to the ego of the purchaser.

One additional aside point Taylor Made is a brand name. If you post this ad anywhere else you might want to change that to Tailor Made.

As this is your first post and it's advertising this post may disappear imminently but good luck with your business venture anyway, just not for accountants methinks.

kind regards,

Shaun.

This is just a bit of market research which is fair enough, in my opinion.

Nevertheless, I do agree with Shaun that there is no real benefit for accountants. Accountants tend to be very conservative anyway.

It might be of interest to some small business owners, though. If you put together a free website and let visitors make and download free customised versions for use on their own websites (with a backlink to you) you may be on to something. You might make good money from the advertising.

Personally, it's not something I would go for, especially given the choice of, say, paying for a website, an advert, a professionally designed logo etc...

Possibly it's horses for courses...  I did consider putting photos of my collection of purple boxes of paperclips & staples etc... on my website biggrin but I'm not sure that that would actually appeal to anyone apart from other accountants & bookkeepers.

Out of interest, what sort of cost would you put on something like this?

Hi Kris,

I've seen something similar in Bangkok airport where they put you into a photograph.

It's not quite the same as this is transposing your name or logo rather than a person but the outcome is about the same. (must say, the picture of my son stroking a Tiger really does look as though he's there).

I think that they were using Photoshop but I could be wrong.

The price for that was around a tenner but would have been cheaper outside the airport. Then again, when you're stuck on the wrong side of passport control for a few hours what else to do with your time?

I'm suspecting that a tenner is nowhere near the sort of money that the above poster was thinking of though!

Shaun.

I wouldn't bother - tries to make me look something that I am not.

I can't reall see the point in that, sorry idea01, as when people visit your office they wont actually see the large plaque that you allegedly took a photo of and stuck on your website. Seems a bit disjointed when you could just carry on using your own logo.

Ditto... Either you work from home and as soon as clients realize this they'll wonder what else about the business is "stock" or you work in an office and the client will see the difference when they come and see you.

Not for me!

Think that we're all in agreement on this one.

Also, am I the only one who can clearly see an additional couple of lines on the picture?

Look at the girls left elbow. The line goes from there across 3.5 panels then directly up.

I suspect that must be the bit that gets cut and pasted over the rest of the picture.

Idea01 you will need to fix that as well as changing the name Taylor made before posting this anywhere else.

I don't think he's using "Taylor Made" as a trading name - I think he's just made a spelling mistake. He also has "Unique" in capital letters.
