Hope you didn't mind me calling you this morning. I wouldn't normally, but as I had already directed the lady to ICB and then thought of you I wanted to make sure you were quick enough off the block if you wanted the work before it was snapped up by someone else.
No, I didn't mind. I couldn't hear the call to start with - it sounded very faded so it didn't register who you were for a bit.
One thing that does worry me was my quickness to reject the work. OK, I had reason to reject it, but I hope I don't end up rejecting other work so quickly. I'm of the opinion Final Accounts for companies are the domain of accountants, not bookkeepers. I know the line between bookkeeping and accountancy is getting a bit blurred nowadays.
I have no experience of companies limited by guarantee so maybe I'll need to start looking into these things for the future. I was nosey and did go to Duedil to have a look at their last accounts and there were a few things I've never come across before, like the Reserves section of the Balance Sheet having :
Members Loan Fund ....... 22,702 Operating Fund .......... 10,642 Education Fund ......... ( 5,044 )
My starting up (proper) date looks like being mid-October. That's when my poster will be going up in the Post Office and I'll have a few months advertising in the local weekly paper. It's also around the time I expect my level III computerised bookkeeping result.
EDIT : Just noticed as well, their accounts are due at Companies House at the end of this month.

My phone line isn't always the clearest, thats VOIP for you.
It was very out of the blue, they seem to have found me through google. Even if I had the technical ability to do it, I just don't have the spare capacity right now to take much else on.
The jist of the conversation was that they think their accountant is fleecing them. Having worked in the third sector I know that a lot of the time thats the case. The accountant sees you as a cash cow because it's not really your money, not in the same way as a business.
I've just taken on a pet shop in Largs, and like I say, I'm almost at capacity right now (I only work part time hours round the kids) but the guy did take a lot of my business cards from me. It might not come to anything, but if it does would you be open to subbing work? or even open to taking a few clients as Largs is a fair distance from me.
Accountancy & taxation Fees (in their accounts) were £938 in 2009 and £911 the year before. I did wonder why they have been using a Chartered Accountant since 1999 (as far as Duedil record go back) and now they don't want to use one.
Where's the Pet Shop in Largs? (I've been a hermit for the last 21 months). There was one a few years ago that shut down. A google and a look at the street map leads me to think there is a new one on the main street. (Next to a small Indian restaurant on one side and a Solicitors on the other, corner building?). The google street view is from a few years ago probably - the road folk went a bit mental with the parking since the picture was taken.

I think we are talking about the same place. I must have walked past it when I was at the Post Office last week. I never noticed it had changed into a Pet Shop.
