Some opinions please...
Permalink Closed

Ok, it's been a while since I asked for opinions on my website.  With recent discussions resulting in a change of name and focus for me I decided that it was probably time for a face lift.

Have a look at www.kmbookkeeping.co.uk/new.php and give me your opinions (be as harsh as you like, I wont get hurt)

It is only the front page which is live.

Thanks

Kris

I like it Kris. Straight forward yet friendly.
The instant quote based on entries per month is clever. Forgive me, I've given it a try.

Thanks Tim, that will be incorporated into the new site too, somewhere.

Kris,

I just tested your online chat and would recommend a few things:

1. Drop the bookkeeping position

2. Focus on your most profitable niche

3. Build the Website for the niche

Looks good.

Hope you don't mind a few comments.........

Need to change opening line to "We offer full bookkeeping and accounting services to sole traders and individuals throughout the west coast of Scotland."

You put "By only working with sole traders and individuals we can provide the best quality service at the lowest fixed price.", - how does only working with sole traders/ individuals mean you can provide the best quality service? I can guess, but it might be worth saying.

How about amending "Below are a sample of the services we offer." to "These are our most popular services."

Personally, I'd move the ICB logo/ practice number to above the fold (selling point).

Have you considered having your picture on there too, to make it more personal?

Anyway, hope thats helpful.

Ray

Hi Ray,

You might have read in another post that I did have a photo on my site previously until one of my friends passed comment about a resemblance to Al Capone.

Bob - Thanks, when the rest of the site is being worked on I'll take the points you suggest on board.  No one can deny your marketing ability.

Good content... I like the info about the prices, the personal quotes ans the fac that you can find out everything you need about your business before they contact you. Looks a bit boring though, I have as much creative inspiration as a pile of dog poop so I can't make any suggestions but the layout looks just a bit off.

I like it much more than the previous version. My comments would be:

Do you want to describe yourself as small? (Personal contact section)

The full service people don't get qtly health checks, but the mid price range do - shouldn't the people paying the most get the most?

I like the idea of the instant quote a lot, but I wonder if a client knows what counts as a transaction so are the quotes they're getting accurate?

Is it only the front page thats been fully updated as the others don't quite match the new clean lines look.

Apart from that, all good!

Hi Nikki, I don't know how clear I was in initial post, but there seems to be some confusion through the thread. Only the page new.php (the blue one) has been updated. Thanks for your comments though.

Hi Jenny, I am trying to get the small family run aspect to shine through now. This is really because I am targeting sole traders and individuals, and I feel that if they know I'm small, like them there will be some rapport built.

With the health check, thanks. I haven't made it clear, and will try to reword it a bit. The reason is that as the mid range clients will be doing their own bookkeeping using online software the health checks are really for my benefit. I really don't want to get to the end of the year and find that they have done everything wrong and I need to redo it. But with the top range I will be doing the full bookkeeping so know it will be accurate.

And finally, yes, it's just a mock of the front page so far. Didn't want to change it all until I got some feedback.

Thanks again to all those who took the time to visit and give me their views.

Kris

Ok, health checks don't sound like what you've described, it sounds more like a qtly 'lets see how you're doing profit wise' type chat, whereas you mean 'lets see how much of mess you've made of this'!

well... yes, but its not a selling point if put it that way

I may add a few pretty charts (accurate, pretty charts) to help them feel that they are getting something in return, but altimately it's a damage limitation tool.

With the top range they will get monthly management accounts with a greater depth of information.
