Hi People,

don't forget to remind anyone with employee's on the lower end of the pay spectrum on your books that the National Minimum Wage rates go up from today (01/10/11).

New base rate is £6.08 per hour.

Usual exclusions and rate variances apply.

See here for full details :

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/TheNationalMinimumWage/DG_10027201

Kind regards,

Shaun.

Thanks for the information Shaun,

Like Stuart, I was unaware of the increase. Just looked on the web and it seems to change on the 1st October each year. The only change I usually look out for is the new tax thresholds in April each year.

Keep up the good work.

Ben

Begs the question, why don't they do it at the same time.

Tim, think it's because the NMW is set by the Equal Pay Commission, nothing to do with HMRC.

Yes, Nick. There was some 'regulation reform' effort a few years ago to only introduce changes twice a year so  I suppose I should be grateful, lol.   It would make sense though to be checking this at 6th April along with tax codes, NI Letters etc.
