Hi I'm new here. I've been watching for a while and felt the time was right to become a fully fledged member!
I'm studying AAT and looking at the different options available to me to set up as a bookkeeper. I've been reading the recent posts about the Crunchers franchise and also the other posts on franchsing.
I've come across a company called Seahorse UK. According to the website they offer start up support to bookkeepers and accountants. I've done a bit of internet searching and can't find any information on them. Their website says they charge £499 which seems cheap, although it mainly seems geared to setting me up with a website and business cards. Not sure if this is good value? Can't see they're members of any franchise association. Not sure if I should be worried by this?
Have any members heard of Seahorse UK and would anyone recommend joining them? Monies tight and I can't afford to go wasting funds at this early stage.
They post on the forum sometimes, I'm sure someone will be along soon now that their name has been mentioned. I couldn't comment on the services they provide.
I'm interested, what is it that you think they can offer that you couldn't do yourself?
Kris
ps. I've had a look at that offer, and with a few quick sums, I think you could do that yourself for about half that price.

nothing against Seahorse but just to say also compare what you are getting with this service to Phil Hendy's service before making your decision.
That's not saying that one is better than the other, just that you should look at all available options before making a commitment to any of the offered products.
Both Phil and Zoe from Seahorse UK are regular contributors on this site.
Maybe Zoe from Seahorse and Phil would both like to do a sales pitch on here for their services?
For Zoe's introductory post see here : http://www.book-keepers.org.uk/t29359770/introducing-seahorse-uk-limited/
and for Phils services see here : http://www.philhendy.com/
Kind regards
Shaun.

I've seen them posting on another forum quite a bit under the guise of their accountancy practice, but I agree with Kris you can probably do this yourself for a lot less money.
You'll make mistakes but this is how you learn!
