My husband is a sole trader and is currently having to seek advice and support from a solicitor due to a recent customer of his. As we all know solicitors charge nearly £200 an hour. As this cost is being incurred on behalf of the business can this be claimed as a business expense?
Thanks!
All costs incurred wholly, necessarily and exclusively for the purpose of the business are allowable.
Pursuit of debt is an allowable expense.
In this instance I assume that the costs incurred are also being pursued as part of the claim. As such don't forget that the reimbursment of such expenses will need to be disclosed seperately in the books from normal revenue (and the payment of the debt being pursued).
HTH,
Shaun.
