Window Cleaner Allowable Expenses

Hi, could someone confirm for me that claiming for lunch when your a self employed window cleaner is not an allowable expense. Basically he works from home, but his argument is that he is away from home.

I think the view is that it's not wholly and exclusively for business use so it's not allowable. We all have to eat... Working or not!

Thanks Nikki thats what I thought but wanted to confirm as he's one of these clients that likes to claim absolutely everything.

It's an old case but the quote from the Judge always made me chuckle...

"A Schedule D taxpayer, like any other taxpayer, must eat to live. No part of the cost of Quinns lunch was laid out wholly and exclusively for the purposes of his trade as a carpenter"
