Really interested in your quirky or bizarre sayings that you use now and then as a rule of thumb or maybe an incentive, and when you would quote them. Just read one on the AAT forums, one of the AAT students used to have a teacher that said "How do you eat an Elephant? one bite at a time" thought that was quite apt to learning.

Have fun

Neil

I had an accounts teacher at school who plastered his classroom in motivational sayings. The one he always used was "the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit extra"

Thems're good uns. I have caught myself saying "Curiouser and Curiouser" while reading my study text. I suppose this is a saying for any fans of Alice.

Only worry when you start saying
"Beware the Jabberwock.."

I had an old sergeant who used to say about his colleagues "It's like working handcuffed to an idiot"

One of my favourites is "Experience is something you get when you are looking for something else". Apt for this forum.

A variant to that is "You get experience by making mistakes" and I have a lot of experience smile

I like these one's :

Eagles may soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet Engines.

Rome wasn't built by having meetings. It was built by killing everyone who opposed it.

... On the latter one of those my bank manager has told me thats not actually a viable business model!

I like them Shaun, especially the Rome one, that's my management style too (well, not actually killing people).

A couple I have seen etched round a bar -
He who hoots with the owl by night shall not soar with the eagle by day
(or something like that)

Another one was
May the skin of your a=== never cover a banjo.

I've just googled that second one and the full expression appears to be
May the skin of your a=== never cover a banjo and may you get to heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're deid

My fave which I have used on here before is: Always borrow money from a pessimist as they never expect it back. and the other I like is. Once we know the difference between right and wrong then we are accountable for what we do. Not Oscar Wilde I know.

Morning Dave, At least yours made sense lol.

Seagulls mumble mumble fishes mumble mumble trawler.

I like to use the saying "everyday is a schoolday" it doesn't matter what you are doing, you are always learning.

When I was teaching I used to say to people who got it wrong - if you never make mistakes you never learn or it's not a mistake it's a learning experience. It usually cheered them up - well the ones who didn't like to make mistakes anyway.

Love it Steve.

Just thought of another one. "Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off doing altogether!".
