VAT Return - Status 'Pending'?
Permalink Closed

Hi, and Happy New Year to everyone here!

I submitted a clients VAT Return a couple of days ago. It accepted the figures, but didn't send through a confirmation. I checked the submitted returns, and it wasn't there, so I looked in 'Submit a Return' and it's showing with a status as 'Pending'.  If you click on it, it says 'The return has been submitted, and is being processed. This can happen when a lot of people are using the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) services at peak times.'

It has been sitting like this for over 48 hours now. I've never has this situation in all the time I've posted online Returns. Has anyone else had a problem submitting returns between Christmas and New Year? Do you think HMRC have a problem at the moment, or can I do anything to 'push' this Return through the system?

Any advise would be much appreciated!

I've got a CT return sitting there pending as well, very annoying. I think the only thing you can do is phone online services.

I've got the same thing with a VAT return, too, and I've never had it before.

You can see just how well centralised deductions are going to go....

I've had this in the past and it has taken 1 (office) working day to appear as submitted.

Your post is dated 1st Jan and you mention it's been there for 48 hrs - suggesting you submitted it on 30th Dec which was a Friday.
Taking that into account and the fact that Monday was a bank holiday I would say if it has been submitted successfully it should say so anytime after Monday 3rd!
