Opening Balances in Kashflow
Permalink Closed

Hi,

Does anyone use Kashflow? If yes, have you ever experienced problems with entering debtors/creditors opening balances when using VAT cash scheme?

If yes, how do you usually deal with it?

Thanks a lot

Hi Aleksandra

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Kashflow, so can't really help much. I can't say that I have noticed many others that use it either.

I have noticed that it has been relatively quiet on the forum recently, and think that a lot of members that might be able to help are probably tied up with client end of year self assessments. I know I have been.

Sorry, not a lot of help. Just didn't want you to think you were being ignored.

Just one quick thought though, if it is not too much work, would entering the individual invoices, rather than a single opening balance help. I would have thought that it should pick up the deferred VAT if entered singularly

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thank you so much for your reply.
I have entered individual invoices, but Kashflow leaves out the vat...

Hi Aleksandra

Just curious, if you run a trial balance canc you see the VAT element anywhere?

Hi You will have to set up individual customers and suppliers and then input opening balances as a normal invoices via the customer/supplier sections , you will have to input the net figure then kashflow will then calculate vat and you should arrive at the correct invoice total . Kashflow recommends you use the code 9998 for opening balances .
You will have to journal the VAT element to 9998 to agree to your closing trial balance but then when you match the invoices when paid the vat will be calculated correctly.
Hope that makes sense Kashflow do have a great help section and usually respond via email correctly as there maybe a fix for this now .
