Intoducing my bookkeeping service to the accountants
Permalink Closed

Hello

I have been working all evening trying to draft up a letter to send out to local accountants, introducing myself and my service but I seem to be struggling.

Please does anyone have a template I could use, I would very much appreciate it.

Many Thanks

Vicki

Hi,

I tried sending out emails to local accountants. A few of them knew me as I have been working locally for a while so they contacted me, but what they said was due to them being quiet they would prefer to keep things in-house.

The only success I have had with accountants is with the larger firms but that was only by meeting with them through mutual contacts.

Currently persuading accountants to give up any work, even bookkeeping, might me a thankless task.

My advice would be make sure your letter is addressed to an individual and offer to meet with them to discuss what services you can offer to their practice.

Hi Vicki,

Whats your email address???

Just incase I find anything that may be of use to you.

I did follow up my letters with a phone call and eventually got lucky with one accountant, although it did take some time and some networking with them to get my foot in the door!

Another way to do it is to go in via the back door so to speak, if you have got clients or a client that is looking for a new accountant, find a good reasonably priced one in your area, get your client to switch to them, then your client will be happy that you have found them a new one and the new accountant will be able to see you work, hopefully putting you forward for any future work that they want to outsource. Once you have made contact with the new accountant for your client, send them an email periodically just to remind them who you are etc. It worked for me, I am in with several now, also to make my face known I offer to take the books to the accountant for the year end, I think of it as an extra service to my clients but really its as much benefit to me, its all part of the networking, its worth half an hour when you are dropping stuff off to them.

Good luck

Thank you for your advice. My email address is vicki.newman@btinternet.com I have about 6 clients who I do self assessment for but they're very small straight forward recording receipts and payments. At the moment I don't feel as if I'm being used to my full potential. So some real bookkeeping work would be excellent. I'm hoping tomorrow to contact all local accountancy's big and small by telephone to see if there is any interest, if there is then I will send an email. I just can't get the wording right at the beginning of the letter. I have searched no end on the web but nothing seems to come up. Anything you can send me Amanda would be greatly received. Many Thanks Vicki
