I believe that I have received what I would call a suspicious enquiry to provide a quote by email this morning.
The callers number showed up on my phone and it sounded like it was being read from a script, so I noted down the full number. When I had finished the call, I pasted it into google and it was from a firm of acocuntants in a neighbouring town.
My question is, should I provide a quote and forget about it, ignore the request or do something else ??
did you amend a line out of the message as the first line talks of an email then the second paragraph talks about a phone call.
No worries, I do it all the time myself when amending messages before posting them then end up taking out something that was actually important to the flow.
Anyway, two possibilities that I can see here :
1) they want to see what competition further down the food chain was charging for services to compare against their own charges for similar services.
2) they are looking to outsource some work and wondered whether your prices would be cheap enough for them to outsource to you and still turn a good profit on the fee's that they were charging to the client.
All in all, I don't think that there was anything untoward about this, it's just business.
Shaun.

It could be all above board - an accountant looking to give you some work. I would probably give them a call back - and ask what type of work they were looking for.
