I have had my second enquiry from Twitter and arranged a meeting for next week. My first client meeting. Wants to put all the accounts on Sage, starting from the April, for a partnership. I am at the moment practising just this for my ICB Level 3 computerised exam but worried that I don't know enough... My only other experience with Sage is for Level 2. My contact seems knowledgeable about their accounts, at present keeps them on Excel but the business is growing so needs help.
Hi Sylvia, i use Sage for the purchase and sales ledgers, passed 2 city & guilds exams using Sage but wouldn't say that i am very experienced with the program. However, i have found that after a few full days of playing with the program that i am comfortable with it and i am sure you would pick it up after a very short time. If you know your double entry then the rest falls into place, theres loads of vids on the net showing you how to do certain things and also there are a few very clever Sage users on here . You will be fine.
Thanks Neil for reminding me that knowing the manual side is something I can talk about. I am good at learning new software but need a job to do, just playing doesn't work for me! I haven't said I am a sage expert, just that I can use it. Custom reports were mentioned and I am sure I can find my way around the report generator, it can't be as much 'fun' as Crystal reports (not that I expect any of you to remember them!).
Twitter pDm really seems to work for me. Tips, call your account something relevant, use your town/area and bookkeeping. I aim to tweet twice a day, at different times and tweet about local meetings that are interesting to businesses, congratulate people, thank them for following me. The tip I was given was not to use it to sell, or just an occasional selling tweet, tweet about things that will interest local businesses or help to promote them. By only following local businesses (with a few exceptions) I am getting my name out to the people who are potential clients. I went to a seminar to start with, a recording of which is now on line if you are interested, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPud0cTH864 It is long and not just about Twitter but it may help.
Thank you for the encouragement, just what I need. I will let you know how I get on with the meeting, Sylvia
Meeting went really well. Very organised client, though you would think the opposite looking at her office! I think we will work well together. Baring anything unforeseen, I will be starting early April. I have my first client! Your turn next pDm - I am sure your first client will come along soon.
Thank you for your help and encouragement, it made a difference - I went to the meeting feeling relatively confident.
