Reading that was like giving with one hand and taking away with the other. How about 15% off for any forum user who has been here for longer than 6 months and has more than a 100 posts, regardless of what body they are a member of.

I am pleased to offer BKN members a 15% discount on on our ICB Level 3 Self Assessment training course (home study). The course fee is priced on our website at £195. For BKN members the fee will be £165.75
Offer expires end of June and is on condition student is a BKN member and has ICB membership to AICB level or above. Exam fee is not included and is payable as and when required.
I think that Daves logic is that it's an ICB course so only any good to ICB people although knowing that bookkeeping is bookkeeping no matter who you study it with I can see your logic as well.
BKN membership is £24 making the course £5.25 cheaper for non current BKN members but then you also get the PII deal from Arlington which is really good.
Actually, if we get 15% per 100 posts that means Daves going to pay me around £916.50 to take the course... Make the cheque out to.... Wadda ya mean it doesn't work that way
Joking aside, I think that there's some mileage in your idea Steve. Why restrict the deal on the ICB course to ICB people? Espechially as that's cutting down your available market Dave.
Would it not be better to push the course as advanced bookkeeping that could lead to an ICB qualification rather than only as an ICB qualification?
Just a suggestion. You know your business far better than I Dave but I think that Steve may have inadvertantly touched on something.
I know that's the way that Pitman training approach courses which lead to their qualification and/or IAB/ICB (Dependant upon which Pitman centre you go to).
Personally I think that restricting based on BKN membership is fine as my feeling is that most of the regulars end up members eventually anyway, and my view is that besides the special offer benefits, membership helps to keep the site free.
All the best,
Shaun.

To be totally honest I noticed a post from Donna advertising Sage Classroom training at discounted prices to BKN members. I thought it was self promotion and was not allowed but if it was allowed to offer deals to BKN members then perhaps we could do the same. I emailed Steve at BKN and posed the question who responded by saying as long as any offers were bookkeeping or Accountancy related and for BKN members then there would not be a problem.
Then as all course advisors who champions the students would! I contacted the owner of Training Link and asked if we could offer any discounts for BKN members, who advised we could offer the ICB Level 3 Self Assessment at 15% off. To take the ICB Level 3 Self Assessment exam you have to have minimum AICB status, which agreed only ICB members can benefit from the offer, but this is the first of many more offers for BKN members I hope. All good things to those who wait. lol
I will let the powers above know of your comments and I will be wearing a bullet proof vest should I post another BKN offer lol. Please dont shoot the messenger who only saw an opportunity to save some members a wee bit of money should this be a course they wanted to do.
Absolutely no shooting mssengers from me as I thought that it was quite good that you are offering this and thought maybe my suggestion might help spread the love a little.
Genuine offers from site members are always to my mind welcome on the site and you won't get any broadside from myself for that.
We do sometimes get things like Indian IPO's posting offers on here but they get banned and deleted pretty quickly.
Also, some offers posted on here in the past haven't actually been offers at all but just made to sound as though they are.
Basically though if its a genuine offer of advantage to site members (Such as this one from Training Link) then as you've already had clarified by Steve it's more than welcome.
Right, so how do we get you to 20% for all courses .
This is the bit where you say that "But I'm cutting my own throat here at 15% for one course!".
kind regards,
Shaun.

No I am a tongue in cheek kind of person a love a bit of banter. 20% if Villa get relegated and the member of staff who will foot the bill has already been delegated lol.
To be fair Shaun Training Link are in the process of providing other courses from other bodies so with luck and if I keep the big man happy I may be able to persuade him to offer more discounts to BKN members, your idea was a good one and one I am ashamed to say I never thought of, I bow in your presence oh great one lol.
As a training provider on the forum I am very conscious of not stepping on anyones toes or upsetting the apple cart so to speak. There was me ranting on about students having a choice and I post an offer for ICB members only DOH lol
