Is there anyone out there doing pub accounts. I am having a meetingon Monday with some new clients who have just taken over a pub, but i've never had a pub as a client, can anyone give me any tips on what sort of system they use.
My practice handles six pubs. I would warn you that there is a lot of paperwork associated with pubs. Also, as a cash business, it is very difficult to ensure that it is all accounted for.
I did one and just used a simple cas book. The only area that i would say is different is the large amount of cash that is recieved. I would prepare a quarterly, atleast, cash account so you can see what is being banked ties up with that the declared takings are.

I handle bookkeeping and accounts for two pubs, I would advise that you ensure all sources of income are accounted for - fruit machines, juke boxes, pool table etc. - as these can be overlooked.
