Hi all, further to my post 'Should I wait for the iPhone 5?' I'm now seriously considering moving across to an android phone. I like the look of the new Samsung Galaxy in particular.
I've spent a fair amount on apps in the app store. Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer apps from the iPhone to an Android?
Also, I was a Blackberry user before the iPhone which was fantastic for email. The iPhone is ok for email. How do android phones compare for email?
Cheers in advance for any replies!

Unfortunatley you can not transfer apps between one app store to another which seems a real kick in the teeth. As regards email android is no better than iphone or windows phone. I think my windows phone is excellent for emails but there are things that only blackberries. For example, if you lose your backberry you can quickly within the hour stop anybody from hvaing access to your emails. It takes all other operating systems about 24hours to give this complete lock down. This is my many companies will only allow you to access your corporate emails with a blackberry.
It depends on what you want it to do. I use my windows phone for emails, it syncs with outlook and calender and works brilliantly but when i was in practice, our IT guy wuldnt let me anywhere near the email exchange with it, and the same will be for iphone and android. However, if you are just a regular user android, i think, will be fine
Just be wary of the android viruses!!!!

Actually, that one's not Hitchhikers guide but it is Douglas Adams.
p.s. for anyone who didn't get the electric sheep comment it was that the book on which the film bladerunner was based was "Do Androids dream of electric sheep".

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, horribly spoiled by the TV series but yes, written by God. (My God anyway)
Bladerunner is still up there in my esteem, i have yet to read the book believe it or not but it has been on my Xmas wish list for sometime now, unfortunately socks are deemed more important by my family.
I think that the most haunting thing about blade runner has to be the main droid questioning the waste of why they are born to see and learn so much only to die due to having a preset expiry date.
It doesn't take much to see that Phillip K. Dick was actually asking readers to question their own existence and what they are doing with their own lives in that we are born to live and then we expire but how many of us fit proper living in between those two extremes!
As far as I'm concerned he's right up there with Asimov and Adams as a great thinkers of the 20th century cunningly disguised as a science fiction author.

Back on topic, I attempted the change from an iphone 3GS to a Samsung Galaxy S2.
Although I found the phone hardware better then the iphone (ie better camera, better screen, better battery life), I couldn't live with the fiddly nature of Android, and after about 2 months I sold the galaxy and bought an Iphone 4.
iOS just works so much better then Android IMO, much more user friendly, loads easier to sync with your computer and more apps available.
I'd suggest going to a shop and giving the android a good go before you buy one.
I love my Android phones. Have just got the new HTC One X having had the Galaxy SII
I think it depends on what mail server you use regarding the comments about email. As I use Google Apps I have complete synchronisity through my phone, tablet and PC. I wouldn't even bother with outlook again, you just don't need it.
