I think a lot of the changes spoken about in the article are clearly upon us, practices are already relying more on IT, some are already ditching mon-fri 9-5, some are already having more input into clients business than once a year. I didn't read anything ground breaking in it.
The think I find though is that all these reports are targeting 2020 for their changes. I just did a search on google for "by 2020" and we're going to wake up on the 1st January and not know the world with all the changes happening by then.
@Kris - the speed of change is increasing. I do not do much "work" as such and even I find it difficult to keep up.
However, what I am sure about is that change is happening and there are many opportunities for those with an open mind. As you know, my proposition for bookkeepers and accountants is to collaborate because dealing with the change alone is tough because it's almost impossible to work and know what is going on at the same time.
I would agree with change being fast. I also agree that when you put your head down to do some work, you lift it up and something else has changed. Working with accountants may be a step to far for me though
