Hi there,

I have used Sage, QB, Moneysoft and 12Pay and I like both Moneysoft and 12Pay equally. It took me a little longer to pick up 12Pay than Moneysoft but all the payroll software does the same thing basically, so once you have got used to it you should be fine.

If cost is an issue then Moneysoft and 12Pay are far cheaper than Sage or QB.

I am expanding my bookkeeping business and setting up in an office shortly, I dont do payroll at the moment but will do when set up.  Ideally I want to use Sage payroll as I have used this before but it is so very expensive. Someone suggested 12 Pay which I have looked at online and it is a fraction of the cost.

Does anyone have any experience of 12 Pay?  and if so are there any disadvantages compared to sage?

any advice appreciated.

Keely, I'm sure you'll get some independent replies soon, but I'll make a couple of comments.

Some of our ex-Sage users tell us that for the first couple of weeks/months they weren't sure where everything was and how to operate our software.

But almost invariably, once over the "it is different" hurdle they also comment that they're completing payroll operations in far less time using 12Pay than they used to with their old software.

I'm not aware of any significant disadvantages of 12Pay compared with Sage, but I stand ready to be corrected by other members.

Hi,

I use 12 pay and it is great. I haven't used Sage so can't comment on it, but I have used QB's and 12 Pay is easier to use than QB's. Like Tom says it takes a while to get use to the new software but once you get over that hurdle they are fine.

I have used Sage and found it too expensive for multicompany payroll. Moneysoft is so much cheaper, fairly simple to use but has all the features to do a payroll from office. You can download a free trial. I have used it for 5 years and can only praise the system. Very easy to dowload updates and they always work. Have a look at the site to see if it ticks your boxes.
