Upgrading membership/practice licence
Permalink Closed

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Probably best for the ICB forum but seeing its STILL down...

I'm currently doing the ICB Career Path with Ideal Schools. I'm trying to whip through the exams as quickly as possible so I can start practicing when my daughter starts school in September. I completed level 1 last month and am not that far from completeing level 2. I then have to do level 3 manual & comp and SA and PM.

My question is this. If I were to upgrade my memebrship now to Afilliate and then to Associate & then to Member applying for Practice licence as soon as possible etc. would I have to pay full price for each level? And so it is best (in order to save money) to not start practicing until I am fully level 3 + PM + SA...?

I hope that makes sense! Ideally I'd like to start trying to get business as soon as I have level 2 (with practice licence) but as I see it that would just be a waste of money...

any thought...?

Thanks all,

Eadie

Hi
I am pretty sure every time you upgrade you have to pay the full amount. How long do you estimate your'll complete level 3 including payroll and self assessment? Because it might still be worth you getting your practice license once you have completed level 2 and start trading whilst you study level 3

I think there are options - although you do need to ask to make sure. You can keep paying the full amount and that will extend the membership for a further year so your membership could be paid for the next couple of years. Or you can ask to pay the increased amount until the end of the current membership.

When my membership ran out as i was finishing off my level 2, i phoned up ICB to see where i stand they said if i renewed my membership i would still have to pay the full amount when it came to upgrading it, they didn't offer anything else to me. So i held out to get my upgrade

Thanks all - if I carry on at the rate I'm going I could probably get level 3 in a month - 2 max. So maybe it's better just to wait.

Thanks again,,
