I've just been made redundent from a jobs in an accounts department with a major retail chain. I've worked the role for over 20 years and don't really have any other skills. I'm CIMA qualified.
I'm considering byting into an accounting franchise (which is how I came across this forum when googling) and wondered if anyone on here has any comments on them (good or bad welcome).
My shortlist at the moment is The Financial Management Centre, Rosemary Bookkeeping and Certax Accounting, all of whom look very professional which is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately there's alreay a Taxassist in my local area or I'd have spoke to them first.
My understanding is that the first two are bookkeeping franchises so Certax is probably the one to go for from your short-list because you are looking for an accounting franchise.
I'm a FMC franchisee. We have all qualifications as franchisees, CIMA, ACA, ACCA, AAT etc - but whatever qualification you have you have to pass the ICB level 2 or 3 (not sure which) to prove you can do bookkeeping competently. A lot of the franchisees have staff to do the bookkeeping while they concentrate on the higher level stuff they are more interested in.
