Has anyone taken the Chartered Secretary Qualification (ICSA)? Just considering my study options and haven't come across the ICSA before. Any idea if this would be useful for smaller businesses?
I've never heard of a Chartered Secretary before, although their website looks very good.
I thought the role of the company secretary was reducing since Companies House removed the requirement to have one. I'm guessing a Chartered Secreatary and Company Secretary are different roles?

I have considered studying before and might in the future. Company Secretary is the position whereas Chartered Secretary is the qualification for such a role. While it is certainly true that having the requirement removed for Ltd company seems to suggest there might be reduce job option than before, I would say that the smaller companies never employed Chartered Secretary anyway and the larger companies would still employ one.
In terms of the original question, if you are studying it to offer services to smaller businesses then I guess it would be useful, but if you're doing it for employment with those businesses I would say probably not.
