New charity client
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

I have been approached  by a possible new client who runs a charity shop. Their current documents show cashflows for the charity and cashflows for the shop. They are also proposing to open a new shop.

I've not done charity books before. Is there anything specific I need to consider? They have an accountant who is going to do the final accounts.

Is it ok to do charity work on VT Transaction.

If anyone does anything similar, how long do you take a week to record everything?

Many thanks

Hi.

On my website I have a document which might help as a starting point. It's at the bottom of page.

I do accounts for a charity that is museum.

I maintain the accounts on SAGE and it takes me a couple of hours each week to process purchase invoices, sales invoices, write cheques and process cheques on SAGE and reconcile bank.  I also do quarterly management accounts and year end accounts to be passed to the accountants to do their independent examination.

Dont know about England but here in Scotland our charities have accounts that are laid out completely differently to ltd company accounts.  Though that is something that the accountants deal with.  I just prepare the accounts on SAGE and let them sort out the account layout and disclosures at the year end.

How long yours will take only you will know based on the amount of documentation that is to be processed.

Regards

Mark
