I am in full time employment and thinking of earing a bit of extra cash. I am thinking of getting some work from accountants (who outsource) in Birmingham so I could do it at home. Can anyone suggest what is the best way of going about it. Do I phone them to ask for work or do I apply through post. Please help!!!!!!
Probably email as many as possible with details of your experience, software you have used, software you have available to you, and your suggested rates. I would think that you'd get more interest if you quote your rates.
I assume that you must already be working in accounts in practice in order to be thinking of this so a few things to consider :
(1) You will need to be registered for Money Laundering
(2) Your employment contract is likely to have restrictive covenants in it preventing you from acquiring clients within a certain distance of your employers practice or even offering this service at all whilst working for them.
Assuming that you have already contemplated the above the next thing is whether you will get any replies from Accountants.
At the moment a lot of accountants have taken back in house work previously outsourced.
Everyday they get lots of letters and emails from bookkeepers offering their services (sometimes for free where the bookkeepers are trying to gain experience) but in many cases the letters do not even get read as practices quite often have barely enough work to keep their own staff employed.
Good luck in your search but I would not expect you to gain much if any work by this approach,
kind regards,
Shaun.
