I have retired from a lifetime in educational and social research which included running my own research consultancy for 16 years.  Now I'm trying to master the complexities of being the treasurer of the Herefordshire branch of Samaritans.  What I know about bookkeeping is a result of experience and self-study. We are about to move from paper-based cashbook bookkeeping to accruals accounting using Paxton Charities Software.  So I would like to tap into forum members' experience to clarify some of the issues I now need to address.  Watch out for my posts elsewhere in the forum.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Hope a Paxton user is along shortly to answer your question but without simply typing up comparison accounts on say, Excel, you might look for a means of entering the opening Trial Balance which may then produce PY figures alongside.

Regards,
Tim

Welcome to the forum William,

afraid it's not software that I've ever used (or even heard of before) myself although maybe it's something that I should rectify as I know that there can be a lot of money in charity work... Although with my luck probably not any charity that I had anything to do with (Dear Santa, please will you have guide dogs for the blind contact me.... I've been a good boy this year honest).

The accountants that I know who have charities have them on Sage the same as any other client.

kind regards,

Shaun.

p.s. please don't miscontru the above as me advising the purchase of Sage.

It may have come to my attention & even though I have not been here for a while it is still encouraging to see that your views on the subject haven't changed one bit
